dc.description.abstractThe study was to establish the role of head teachers ‘management practices on teachers’ commitment in Government Aided secondary schools in Butaleja District. Teacher commitment has been declined in most Government Aided secondary schools in Butaleja District. Head teacher management practices was regarded as the independent variable while teachers’ commitment was the dependent variable. The study was guided by three research objectives and three research questions. The study adopted Inferential analytical research design and used qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data was collected from 154 respondents. The study findings revealed that Head teachers’ Management Practices of organizing, mentoring and delegating duties to teachers has a significant effect on teachers ‘commitment in Government Aided Secondary Schools in Butaleja District. It is concluded that Head teachers’ Management Practices of organizing, mentoring teachers and delegating duties to them contributes to their commitment in Government Aided Secondary Schools in Butaleja District. From qualitative findings of the present research, it is concluded that an increase in the level of organizing, mentoring and allocating duties to teachers contributes to a significant level of their commitment in Government Aided Secondary Schools in Butaleja District. It is therefore recommended that, head teachers should continually put into place organizational structures while organizing teachers for effectiveness, arrange mentoring programs for their teachers to increase on their level of productivity and delegate duties to teachers in order to be able to spend quality time with their teachers so as to build strong teams in educational institutions under their leadership.
