This study analyses leadership in light of 1 Corinthians 3:18-23 and explores how the theological insights of this passage can inform leadership practice within Kazo Archdeaconry in Namirembe Diocese, Church of Uganda. The study is motivated by the need to reflect on Christian leadership within contemporary church contexts using biblical and theological foundations. The research employed the Tripolar Exegetical Method, which engages the world of the text, the world behind the text, and the world of the reader. Through this method, the study first conducted an exegetical analysis of 1 Corinthians 3:18-23 in order to understand Paul’s teaching concerning wisdom, leadership, and belonging within the Corinthian church. The passage reveals Paul’s concern about divisions in the community caused by allegiance to particular leaders and by reliance on worldly concepts of wisdom. From this exegetical analysis, the study identified several leadership principles, including cruciform wisdom, vigilance against self-deception, rejection of boasting in human leaders, authority as stewardship, identity rooted in belonging to Christ, and leadership oriented toward corporate maturity. These principles provide a theological framework for understanding leadership within the church. The study then analyzed leadership practice within Kazo Archdeaconry in light of these principles. The findings indicate that while leadership within the archdeaconry operates within well-established Anglican structures that promote accountability and order, ongoing theological reflection remains necessary to ensure that leadership practices remain aligned with the biblical vision articulated by Paul. The study concludes that 1 Corinthians 3:18-23 provides a valuable theological framework for Christian leadership, emphasizing humility, service, and faithfulness to Christ. When these principles are integrated into leadership practice, they contribute to the strengthening of the church’s unity and the spiritual maturity of the Christian community.
